CLEAN DRINKING WATER SEGMENT

Ensuring Life-Saving Clean Water Reaches Those in Greatest Need

Access to clean water is not a privilege—it is a fundamental human right. Yet, in many remote and underprivileged areas of our country and across the world, this basic necessity remains out of reach. The RWF Trust is committed to changing this harsh reality by bringing life-saving clean water to those who need it most.

The Crisis of Unclean Water

Contaminated water is one of the leading causes of illness and death in low-income communities. Waterborne diseases like cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and diarrhea claim thousands of lives each year—many of them children under the age of five. Women and young girls often walk miles daily just to fetch water, usually from unsafe sources. This not only endangers their health but also disrupts education and livelihoods.

Our Mission: Safe Water for Every Life

At RWF Trust, we believe clean water transforms lives. That’s why our Clean Water Program targets the most water-stressed regions, ensuring that no one is left behind. Our mission is twofold:

  1. Immediate Relief – Provide communities with access to safe drinking water through the installation of hand pumps, filtration systems, and borewells.
  2. Long-Term Sustainability – Train local communities to manage and maintain these water sources, ensuring they remain functional and clean for years to come.

How We Identify Greatest Need

Our field teams work closely with local leaders, health officials, and volunteers to identify villages and neighbourhoods where the water crisis is most severe. Factors include:

  • Distance to nearest water source
  • Quality of existing water
  • Rate of waterborne diseases
  • Impact on women and children
  • Lack of government support

These areas are prioritized for immediate intervention.

Our Clean Water Solutions

RWF Trust uses a range of context-appropriate technologies to deliver clean water:

  • Hand Pumps: Reliable and low-maintenance, ideal for shallow water tables.
  • Deep Bore Wells: Essential in arid areas where surface water is non-existent.
  • Water Filtration Units: Community-scale systems that remove harmful pathogens.
  • Rainwater Harvesting Systems: Especially effective in hilly or hard-to-dig areas.

Solar-powered Water Pumps: Sustainable and efficient for larger rural communities.
